Our areas of expertise cover the full spectrum of neurological disorders, including but not limited to brain, spine, and peripheral nerve.
The neurosurgeon is well-versed in all complex areas of the brain and spinal cord, including but not limited to tumors, vascular abnormalities such as aneurysms, arteriovenous malformations, fistulas, and cavernous angiomas. Conditions such as trigeminal neuralgia, hydrocephalus, as well as neurological trauma, are also dealt with on a daily basis.
Both routine and complex cervical, thoracic, and lumbar spine issues are taken care of by several of our physicians, covering all aspects of evaluation, diagnosis, and treatment—both surgical and non-surgical.
The neurosurgical service offers the ability to do stereotactic radiosurgery and has used the Gamma Knife for almost 30 years.
The pain management service, along with the neurosurgery and orthopedic spine service, works collaboratively to optimize pain care through various forms of injections, procedures, and at times neuromodulation, such as spinal cord stimulators.
The neuropsychology service offers the opportunity for cognitive assessments, work-ups for Normal Pressure Hydrocephalus (NPH), as well as continuity of care for those with concussions, memory loss, prior intracranial events such as brain bleeds, and assessments for those undergoing aneurysm surgery, other types of brain surgery, and stereotactic radiotherapy.
GHNC offers patients the opportunity to be evaluated based on their own specific history of illness and physical exam, and then investigated through various modalities of testing (such as CT, MRI, etc.). After the investigations are complete, the patient returns to the office to have the investigations thoroughly reviewed—highlighting the abnormal and normal findings—discuss the implications of those results, and then further discussion about the various options, spanning the spectrum of conservative treatments to surgical treatments.
If other consultations are required, we will do our best to organize and expedite those for you, the patient.
GHNC deals directly with your insurance company to get approval for surgical codes/procedures.
At GHNC, we all realize the stress that comes with patients when they seek out a consultation. The nervous system and musculoskeletal system are often complex, and therefore it often takes more time to sort out some of these issues.
Please take the time to:
Write down questions ahead of your visit Make sure your encounter forms are filled out ahead of time so that you get the full benefit of your consultation time Make sure you have your imaging films, if possible, CDs and reports that pertain to your visit.
Family members are welcome and often help patients clarify details, assist with interpretation—whether it be language issues or understanding recommendations.
Please remember this is your consultation, and although we may not have all the answers, we hope to get you and your family member on an appropriate path to recovery and wellness.
