GHNI is comprised of 3 different departments. GHNC, GHFRME, and RRCSA
The Greater Houston Neurosurgery Center (GHNC), founded by neurosurgeon Peter M. Shedden, opened its doors in January 1997 as the first neurosurgical medical practice in The Woodlands, Texas. Over the years, GHNC has remained the premier neurosurgical office, dedicated to the clinical evaluation, diagnostic workup, and treatment of patients with neurological disorders—whether or not they require neurosurgical intervention. GHNC has grown into a team of dedicated, board-certified physicians specializing in neurosurgery, orthopedic spine surgery, pain management, and neuropsychology. As the leading neurosurgical center in North Houston, including North Harris County, Montgomery County, and the surrounding counties, GHNC also attracts patients from across Texas and neighboring states.
GHFRME focuses on medical research, education, brain and spinal injury prevention, and the six pillars of lifestyle medicine, as supported and outlined by the American College of Lifestyle Medicine.
Peter M. Shedden and his wife have supported the foundation for approximately 20 years. Its purpose is to advance medical science and enhance educational programs for the community, helping patients of all ages become familiar with neurological disorders and their impact on both their lives and the broader community.
The regional resource center for supra adults was a collaborative program set up with the idea of Dr. David Gottlieb, who is the former professor of sociology at the University Of Houston and Dr. Shedden. There was significant need for a place where those 55 and older who had been successful, but possibly had retired. I had a surgery almost two months ago for a Chiari decompression. Dr. Shedden and his team not only were super attentive, kind, and very patient but also helped me figure out insurance which I never really had before. My surgery so far has been a success. I had an 18 mm herniation and a syrinx. I go for MRIs in a few weeks to really see how everything is but so far my headaches have greatly diminished and I have no numbness in my face and arms/hands. So very grateful that not only did he take my situation seriously but fixed me! Thank you!
March 2013 A while back, I knew that someday I would have to undergo cervical surgery and it honestly terrified me. 7 days ago, Dr. Shedden operated on me and performed my surgery of repairing not one, nor two, but three levels in one sitting. The surgery took approx. 2 1/2 hours and within 28 hours of the surgery, I went home. To this point, I am so grateful for Dr. Shedden's expertise because I still have minimal if any pain. Dr. Shedden and his colleague my family abreast of everything and answered all questions; they were open and honest. There was total confidence and trust on my part. Thank you Dr. Shedden and Co.
